A Smoke 2013 trial should be online by next monthAutodesk launched their latest Smoke product with a bit of a stir at NAB2012 and took a non too subtle pop at NLE suppliers who insisted on different software products using ‘Round Tripping’ techniques to achieve their goals.

The new 4K concept camera from Panasonic, first shown at NAB2012While other companies are full steam ahead in the 4K world Panasonic is taking things a bit slower with an 18 month roadmap to their 4k camera offering.
The concept camera they paraded at their Sunday press conference will have on-board in a year and a half a workflow system that will allow it to record AVC Ultra at it’s highest level which they call Class 4:4:4 – a 12-bit signal – all the way down to a 25Mb/s stream.
The camera will have a cinema sized sensor along with this long thought out workflow. AVC Ultra demoes were on their stand.

Lightworks will finally be ready at the end of this monthAfter a successful 18-month beta program, EditShare has announced the official release of Lightworks, their free non-linear editor, on the 28th of May 2012.
GoPro has joined up with Technicolor to embed a colour profile in the camera's firmwareGoPro and Technicolor, announced a tie-up at the NAB 2012. They have worked to embed Technicolor’s CineStyle colour profile for the debut of the new GoPro Protune (a free firmware upgrade available for the HD HERO2 camera this summer).
